Two simultaneous arson attacks leave truck and minibuses destroyed north of Collipulli
At least two nearly simultaneous arson attacks were reported early this Thursday in the commune of Collipulli, in the La Araucanía region.
One of them occurred on Route 5 South, near the Mininco intersection, close to the Esperanza area.
A truck and a minibus were burned at that location by armed and masked individuals, as reported by Carabineros.
The affected drivers recorded the moment the vehicles were set on fire.
The second incident took place on Route R-23, towards Huapitrío, where a minibus was completely burned. Police personnel are working on both violent events.
Carabineros personnel confirmed to Radio Bío Bío that in another incident, unknown individuals knocked down power line poles on the road connecting Collipulli with Angol. COP and Territorial personnel arrived at the scene and reported these events to the Public Ministry.
This is the third arson attack recorded this week in La Araucanía, after the Mapuche Malleco Resistance destroyed a school, an evangelical church, and a Catholic chapel in different parts of the region.
Additionally, this week also saw gunfire targeting a Carabineros checkpoint in the commune of Ercilla. Officers took shelter in a container to avoid being injured during the shooting attack.
